   Introduction

The Second Malaysian Software Engineering Conference (MySEC'06) is the leading regional conference on software engineering that aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government to advance the state-of-the-art research and practice in software engineering.

The theme of MySEC'06 is Towards Practical and Maintainable Software . It reflects the major challenges currently faced by software community. Although many advanced techniques, methods, and tools were introduced during the past decades, we still have problems with unusable software and high maintenance cost. For examples, after invested a large amount of money, the produced software was found unable to fulfil user requirements, delivered with unacceptable performance, and unable to cope with requirement changes after certain periods of time. Thus, MySEC'06 is aimed at creating a platform for knowledge sharing and collaborations among academics, researchers, and practitioners in their ultimate aim of producing high quality software.
